Overview

The Presidium Refractive Index Meter II is a digital desktop tester designed for precise measurement of the refractive index (R.I.) of gemstones. Operating without the need for messy R.I. liquids, it provides instant, direct R.I. readings for a wide range of gemstones—including diamonds, moissanites, and other diamond simulants—covering a broad range of 1.000 to ~3.000. This extends measurement capabilities beyond traditional refractometers, enabling accurate identification even for stones with higher R.I. values.

Featuring an intuitive digital display, built-in 8-piece gemstone holder, and a removable refractive index comparison chart, the PRIM II streamlines gemstone testing. Integrated software and a gemstone database allow users to reference properties like color, S. G. value, and hardness for over 50 stones. A USB port offers alternative power and connectivity. Its compact, battery-powered design is suitable for laboratory, retail, or field gem identification scenarios.
